February 2013’s choice is Isaac Marion’s Warm Bodies. The image is from the audio edition, but I think it is such a cool representation of the book. The book is described on amazon.com as:
“R is having a no-life crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he is a little different from his fellow Dead. He may occasionally eat people, but he’d rather be riding abandoned airport escalators, listening to Sinatra in the cozy 747 he calls home, or collecting souvenirs from the ruins of civilization.
And then he meets a girl.
First as his captive, then his reluctant house guest, Julie is a blast of living color in R’s gray landscape, and something inside him begins to bloom. He doesn’t want to eat this girl—although she looks delicious—he wants to protect her. But their unlikely bond will cause ripples they can’t imagine, and their hopeless world won’t change without a fight.”
I’m so excited that we’re finally reading Warm Bodies for February. Also, the Steepers and I are having our first “out of library” experience, by taking a field trip to the movies. We plan on seeing Warm Bodies the week before our meeting so we can discuss this great debut novel and the film that is based on it. Can’t wait! Now that I’ve finished the novel, I feel I can share some of the great tagline posters that those witty Hollywood people came up with to promote the movie. Looks good!
